The “progressive list” was adopted at the FEI General Assembly in Copenhagen (DEN) on 19 November 2009. It specifies which medications can be used on horses starting in competitions.
In short: From 1 January 2010 on, the “progressive list” will allow e.g. anti-inflammatory drugs and doses of painkillers to be applied at such high dosages that a competition start will become possible even for horses that are in fact unfit to compete. In a large number of countries this rule violates existing animal protection laws.
At the European level, a whole range of national Equestrian Federations announced that they will not accept this list and are hoping that this resolution will be abated.
